Minister of state for foreign affairs Bianca Ojukwu has bagged her 10th chieftaincy title.

Ojukwu, widow of Biafra leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was conferred the honour on Saturday by Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi ancient kingdom at his 61st Ofala Festival.

The occasion was also used to celebrate the king’s 99th birthday.

On Sunday, the minister posted on Instagram a video and photos from the ceremony, revealing the traditional title to be “Aka Ekpuchi Onwa”.

“On 28th December 2024 my 10th traditional title was conferred upon me by His Royal Highness, Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi Ancient Kingdom,” she wrote.

“And it is ‘AKA EKPUCHI ONWA’. No human hands can cover or obscure the illumination or brightness of the moon.

“Only God has the final say in our destiny. It may be delayed, but never denied. So it is written, So may it always be, Amen.”

Commenting on the honour in another post, she wrote: “A Chieftaincy title conferment is like another baptism, but a cultural one deeply woven into one’s identity, reflecting an individual’s achievements, value or belief system or simply a hallmark of their experiences.”

“The symbolism of this title is not lost on me. It is a homage to the uniqueness of my personal story. It summarizes my journey through life, it’s twists and turns, it’s heartbreaks, it’s triumphs. Yes, many may gather against your plans but ultimately it is God who knows your destiny, that has the final say.

“Your destiny may be deferred by human forces but can never be denied by God. For every experience or label that limits you, It is God who speaks your true name.

“For me, this is a fitting tribute, at the end of this turbulent year, to God’s amazing mercies, his unique powers of restoration and most importantly, a constant reminder that if heaven says yes, no man or woman can say no,” she added.
