Multichoice, the organisers of the popular reality TV show Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), have hinted at a possible change in the audition process ahead of the show’s tenth season.

BBNaija is known for introducing twists every season and this time, the audition format might be different from previous editions.

While details have not been explicitly confirmed, a post on the show’s official Facebook page suggests that hopeful contestants may have to show up in person rather than participate in the virtual auditions that have been used in recent years.

The post reads, “This time, it’s all about showing up and being you. Ready to shine? ✨Get ready, your moment is closer than you think! 💥 Season 10 is coming.”

BBNaija first introduced online auditions during its fifth season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The virtual auditions, held from May 20 to May 30, allowed contestants to submit two-minute videos explaining why they should be selected. The format attracted over 30,000 applicants, with 20 housemates making it into the show.

The format continued for subsequent seasons, including Season 6 in 2021, where auditions ran from May 3 to May 16 with two-minute video submissions.

In Season 7 (2022), applicants submitted three-minute videos between May 15 and May 30. The All Stars edition in 2023 (Season 8) did not hold new auditions, as it featured returning ex-housemates.

For Season 9, which premiered in July 2024, online auditions were held from March 27 to April 5. Contestants were required to audition in pairs, submitting three-minute videos showcasing their personalities and dynamics as a duo.

With Season 10 approaching, Multichoice’s latest announcement suggests that the audition format could see some adjustments. More details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
