One of the world’s richest men, Bill Gates, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election, the presidency has said.
In a statement late Wednesday, the presidency said Mr Gates congratulated Buhari on telephone when the president called to thank him for his humanitarian support around the world.
The presidency said Gates restated his commitment to the success of the administration as well as the progress, prosperity and well-being of the country.
Buhari also thanked the multi-billionaire for his consistent and generous support for the eradication of polio and HIV diseases in Africa and Nigeria in particular.
“I am very happy the way your projects have touched the life of the average Nigerian. The people of this country have given their verdict. This verdict says we have to work hard to meet their expectations. God willing, we will not fail,” Buhari was quoted to have said.
