Socialite Nona Adimora on Tuesday disclosed that her more popular sister, Nkiru, still washes the underwear of her billionaire husband, Willie Anumudu, 30 years after marriage.
Nona, who is separated from the father of her 21-year-old twins, made the disclosure on in a message she posted on Facebook to congratulate her older sibling.
She wrote: “On the 27th of December 1986 (exactly 30 years ago), my then 19 year old sister, Nkiru Adimora, exchanged vows with businessman William Anumudu then in his 30’s, in the traditional Ibo way. Nkiru was a final year student at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I was 14 years old & felt she was too young, but my sister was very clear about what she wanted in life from a very young age. Marriage was a priority.
“Few months after the traditional marriage she went to watch a Beauty Pageant with her husband, unknown to them her picture was taken by a magazine. She made the cover about a week later. Thus, began the fascination the Nigerian press seems to have with Nkiru Anumudu.
“Through it all, my greatest admiration for her lies in her ability to focus on God, her husband & children. She has NEVER granted an interview. For 30 years she has hand washed her husband’s underwear despite having several washing machines & stewards. She still cannot carry on a phone conversation when her husband is home. She has to attend to his needs. Despite having cooks in the house, she still makes all the traditional soups herself. Again, through it all, she managed to raise four very level headed children, all masters’ degrees holders.
“Most importantly, she has a personal relationship with her Maker. It couldn’t have been possible without Him.
“Happy Anniversary, Nkiru & Pa Willy! Glory be to God!”
Anumudu is the chairman of Globe Motors.
