Actress Bimbo Ademoye has said filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo and Gangs Of Lagos by Jade Osiberu are two of the most challenging movies she has featured in.
The 31-year-old said this in an interview with The Nation published on Saturday while discussing her latest project.
She said: “I have been up to a lot. I am currently filming something with Biodun Stephen and I am preparing for the release of two of the most important roles I have played in my life. One is ‘Anikulapo’ by Kunle Afolayan and another one is ‘Gangs Of Lagos’ by Jade Osiberu.
“Asides that I just shot my movie, ‘The Landlord’ and I will be releasing it very soon. Hopefully, we will be able to get it sold to good platforms and I just opened my youtube channel, where I will be releasing premium content and I am still trying to keep up on TikTok.”
When asked what she looks out for before accepting a role Bimbo stated that the role must be challenging like Anikulapo, adding that the soon-to-be-released movie is her first Yoruba movie role.
The Sugar Rush star also described Kunle Afolayan as a legend and icon, adding that she would not have accepted the role of it was not challenging.
She said: “It has to be challenging and if it is not, it has to be something that I am already used to because, if you are going to take me outside the box not like I am in a box, anyways, if I do say myself I am quite versatile but if you are going to take me out of a certain box then it has to be something that people have never seen before forget that it was in Kunle Afolayan, he is a legend, he is an icon but if ‘Anikulapo’ was not challenging, I probably would not have taken it but I read the script, first of all, it was in Yoruba and I haven’t done a Yoruba film before.”
Anikulapo will be coming to Netflix on September 30.
