Group managing director (GMD) of SO&U Udeme Ufot has revealed that advertising luminary Dr. Biodun Shobanjo “made” him.
Mr Ufot stated this on Tuesday at Shobanjo’s 80th birthday celebration in Lagos organised by Marketing Edge magazine.
“When you say over and over again about the businesses that Dr Shobanjo has built, what you must hear are the people he has built and I am a unique example,” he said.
“…Dr Biodun Shobanjo made me. In the first instance, he set the standard that was so inspirational, that once you had the opportunity to access him you get to aspire to meet that standard and when you’ve been through such association you can’t benefit less.”
Ufot said Shobanjo balanced work and play effectively such that he could “play hard” and then become “extremely serious” when it was time.
Among the attendees at the event were Bimbo Ashiru, Prof Taiwo Ashiru, Sir Steve Omojafor, Engr Vincent Maduka, Tolu Medebem, Rufai Ladipo and Steve Babaeko.
In his 53-year career, Shobanjo, chairman of Troyka which houses many advertising agencies and security company, has received scores of awards for his excellence.
