Chief executive officer of X3M Ideas Steve Babaeko has said that advertising luminary Dr. Biodun Shobanjo was the first person to ever ask for his bank detail to send him money.
Mr Babaeko stated this on Tuesday at Shobanjo’s 80th birthday celebration in Lagos organised by Marketing Edge magazine.
According to him, this encounter with Shobanjo occurred when he (Babaeko) turned 50 three years ago.
“I turned 50 three years ago. And for somebody that you don’t actually directly work with, you’d think that out of sight would be out of mind but he called me and said, ‘Happy 50th birthday, I didn’t even realise that you’ve turned 50. Can you send me your account number?'” Babaeko said.
“And then I started laughing. He asked, ‘Was it something I said?’ I said, ‘Yes sir, that was the first time in my life anybody would ask me to send account number.’ I did and he was very generous.”
Babaeko further celebrated Shobanjo for being disciplined and passionate about excellence.
Among the attendees at the event were Bimbo Ashiru, Prof Taiwo Ashiru, Sir Steve Omojafor, Engr Vincent Maduka, Tolu Medebem, Rufai Ladipo and Udeme Ufot.
In his 53-year career, Shobanjo, chairman of Troyka which houses many advertising agencies and security company, has received scores of awards for his excellence.
