Actress Biola Adebayo has announced that N15 million has been raised for her colleague Olayinka Adebanjo, who sought public assistance for surrogacy after losing her only child at age 28.

She also revealed that the procedure would begin immediately.

In January, Olayinka made an emotional appeal for help in becoming a mother again following the tragic loss of her 28-year-old son, Adeniyi Ishola, a nurse who collapsed and died while playing football.

During an appearance on Talk To B podcast, she expressed her grief, revealing that she had considered adoption but ultimately wanted to have her own child.

“I have seen a lot after the loss of my son. Some people have even mocked me, calling me barren in my old age,” she said tearfully.

Olayinka, a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema since 1983, disclosed that she had already spent a significant amount on medical tests at an adoption centre in Abeokuta.

However, she remained determined to explore other medical options.

During the podcast, Biola Bayo suggested surrogacy as a viable alternative, estimating the cost at N15 to N20 million.

Providing an update on Instagram on Thursday, Biola shared that not only has the required amount been almost fully raised, but a fertility hospital has also stepped in to support the process.

“We have raised about N15m for Aunty Yinka’s surrogacy already. The best news is that one of the top surrogacy specialists in Nigeria, @the_fertility_doctor, has agreed to help us with the process,” she wrote.

According to Biola, the hospital has significantly reduced its charges, covering a large part of the costs, which will allow Olayinka to use the remaining funds to start a business.

She urged well-wishers to keep supporting and praying for the veteran actress, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the cause.
