Crossdresser Bobrisky has defied the youths of Edo state to attend an event in the state capital Benin City despite a protest against him.
Over the weekend, several youths stormed the streets of Benin with placards protesting against the crossdresser who was a special guest at the Patrcia Nightlife party hosted by Feshbliss.
The youths demanded that Bobrisky should leave their city following a statement the 31-year-old made in January 2022 asking the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, to “come and marry” him.
In the video, Bobrisky said: “We are here to disturb Benin. Oba of Benin, Bob has entered. I have entered. Come and marry me.”
The crossdresser, however, received backlash from Benin indigenes for calling out their traditional head.
Reacting in an Instagram story on a Friday night, Bobrisky apologised for the statement, adding that he was only joking.
“Earlier today, I made a statement about the Oba of Benin and a lot of you didn’t find it funny.
“I know. I’m so sorry. I’m actually a jovial person and I play a lot. I’m here to apologise to the great Oba of Benin and to the palace of Benin, that I am sorry,” he wrote.
However, it would appear that Bobrisky’s apology was not well received by the angry youths who accused him of insulting their monarch. They marched the streets of Benin with several placards one of which read, “Edo people reject Bobrisky.”
Some media reports subsequently claimed the organisers of the event cancelled the show due to the protest.
But in a video, the crossdresser posted on Sunday, Bobrisky could be seen partying at the event in Benin. One of his followers identified as Favour Pricless also claimed she saw the Instagram influencer at a hotel in Benin.
