Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Ekpe Phillips, has recommended psychological counselling for persons, including popular transvestite, Idris Okuneye, known publicly as Bobrisky, who are males but want to be like females.
In an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr Phillips, who is also the chief medical director of Nyanya General Hospital, said that Bobrisky cannot function like a woman because he does not have uterus and womb.

Director-General of National Centre for Arts and Culture, Segun Runsewe, recently raised alarm over Bobrisky’s use of women’s toilet at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Runsewe called on the NMA to enlighten women on the dangers of sharing public toilets with Bobrisky.
On this, Phillips said separate toilet facilities should be built for people in Bobrisky’s category.
“In my own view, it is not about Bobrisky feeling he is a woman, it is about others knowing that he is not a woman. They have to create another toilet or another place for those who were born men and decided to say they are women and those who were born women and decided to be men,” he said.

Phillips challenged Bobrisky to expose pictures of his private part to silence critics who think he might be putting up a show for popularity.
He added: “As doctors, we may not have an opinion because it is a controversial area. But what doctors identify is biological male and biological female. Those who are males and have a feeling that they are females need psychological counselling. It is only when you are born a hermaphrodite that you can now choose the one you wish to be.”
