The body of Adewura Bello, who went missing on Wednesday, May 15, has been found in a canal in the Ipaja area of Lagos State.
News of her death was broken on social media on Sunday.
Lagos State police spokesman, Bala Elkana, confirmed the recovery of a corpse in response to an SMS from Qed.ng seeking confirmation of the death.
“On 25/5/19 at about 9.00am, a female corpse was recovered around NNPC pipeline runway inside Peace Estate Baruwa, Ipaja and was taken to mortuary for autopsy. We are waiting for medical verdict on her identity,” Mr Elkana wrote.
Adewura, 26, reportedly boarded a bus heading to Egbeda from Ikeja on the day of her disappearance.
She was said to have spoken to a family member when she got to Cement Bus Stop, after which her family lost contact with her.
