The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno on Tuesday conducted counterterrorism drills for its officers and men.
The CommandacounterterrorismIbrahim Abdullahi, who disclosed this during the training said the drills were part of efforts to enhance the operatives’ proficiency in the counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that personnel of the Special Armed Squad, Counter Terrorism Squad, Anti-riot Squad, Rescue and Medical Team of the corps took part in the exercise which held at the command’s headquarters in Maiduguri.
Abdullahi said that the various skills taught at the training exercise include: counter-terrorism, rescue and counter cattle rustling operation techniques.
“What we displayed was to show to the whole world and the people of Borno that we are equal to the task in terms of protection of lives and property.
“ You can see how we were able to apprehend some cattle rustlers and recover stolen cattle from them.
“We discovered that cow rustling was on the increase, so we are trying to reduce it or stamp it out completely,’’ he said.
According to him, Personnel of the command were engaged in many training and courses to enhance their skills and performance and deal with the security threats in the state.
