A United Kingdom-based Nigerian woman identified as Boladale has denied media reports (not in Qed.ng) that she jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the Lagos Lagoon.
Fake media reports had claimed that the woman committed suicide by parking her car on the bridge on Sunday evening and jumping to her death.
According to reports, she took her life because her husband found out about an alleged affair she was having with a Nigerian-based man.
DNA tests also allegedly revealed that none of her three children belongs to her husband.
Boladale, who was maliciously slandered in the reports, has now come out to dismiss the reports.
“My name is Boladale, I’m a mother of three,” she began in the video.
“I have lived in the UK for the past 13 years. In the early hours of yesterday, some of the pictures were sent viral. It was alleged that I drove a truck to the Third Mainland Bridge and jumped into the Lagoon.
“The picture was sent to me by a friend. Later on I received several calls from family, friends and associates, leaving me in the state of shock.
“My pictures were mixed with pictures of another woman, linking me to the suicide.
A teary Boladale declared “I am alive and well, I have nothing to do with this unfortunate incident.”
The traumatised woman asked all those who have read and shared the story to “spare a thought for my lovely children and I.”
General Manager, of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Adesina Tiamiyu, said in a statement Tuesday advised the public to disregard information circulating about the alleged suicide.
According to Mr Tiamiyu, there was no conclusive information on the matter.
“The attention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has been drawn to a video clip on social media in respect of a woman, who supposedly packed an SUV Ford Explorer and jumped into the Lagoon at the 3rd Mainland Bridge on Sunday 10th July, 2018.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the agency officials are in touch with the owner of the SUV whose registration is been circulated, who only stopped by to offer assistance. The agency strongly advised that the incident is a developing issue which is presently been investigated as search and rescue is still ongoing in the waterways to ascertain the veracity of the incident.
“The agency however advised Lagosians to discard the information been circulated, as the Agency and its stakeholders are making frantic effort to get to the root of the matter, noting that “anybody with any reliable information on any missing person should call the emergency toll free line, 112/767 or contact the nearest police station,” Tiamiyu said in the statement.
