Bolaji Ogunmola defends Daniel Etim-Effiong after backlash over onscreen Kiss

Actress Bolaji Ogunmola has come to the defense of her colleague Daniel Etim-Effiong following criticism he faced over a passionate kiss in a promotional video for their new movie, Summer Rain.

The video which recently surfaced online, shows the pair sharing an intimate moment as part of their characters’ romantic storyline.

The scene sparked mixed reactions, with some fans questioning Daniel’s decision to kiss Ogunmola so passionately despite being married.

In response on her X account on Friday, Ogunmola clarified that the scene was purely professional and part of their work as actors.

She wrote, “Promotional shoot/content is part of an actor’s contractual obligations. Were there cameras there? Yes. Tons of people there? Yes. Was he there as a husband? No. He’s an actor playing a character called Adimchi, who’s ridiculously in love with Murewa. Was he professional? Yes!”

The controversy also drew attention to Daniel’s wife, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, who has previously addressed how she handles such situations.

Speaking on a podcast in December, Toyosi admitted feeling occasional jealousy when her husband shares close scenes with other women but emphasized that their marriage is built on trust and mutual understanding.

Daniel and Toyosi tied the knot on November 4, 2017, after meeting during a project in August 2016.

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in January 2019.
