Borno State commissioner of finance Ahmed Ali has died at the age of 44.
Commissioner of information and internal secretary Prof Usman Tar announced this in a statement on Monday.
The statement reads, “Borno State Government wishes to announce the death of Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the State Commissioner of Finance.”
Tar said the deceased would be buried later on Monday at his family house on Damboa Road.
The statement however did not disclose the cause of the commissioner’s death.
Ahmed died in his house on Damboa Road in Maiduguri, the capital.
Sources familiar with the matter said the commissioner’s room door was forced open after it was observed that his usual time of waking up had passed without any sign of him.
Ahmed was before his inauguration as commissioner on August 10, 2024, the state zonal manager of Zenith Bank in Maiduguri.
Since his inauguration in May 2023 for his second term in office, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has lost two commissioners and a special adviser.
