Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, has led a delegation to the House of Representatives over the strange deaths in Kano State.
Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, were part of the delegation to the House on Tuesday.
The House had last Tuesday summoned the aforementioned persons.
Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila said the interaction with the task force would be brief, though other ‘tangential’ questions may be asked.
Dozens of people have died in Kano of strange causes, which the state government initially said was not linked to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Official records, however, show that Kano has 365 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Monday.
In neighbouring Kaduna, the state government said Almajiris from Kano contribute more than half of its coronavirus cases.
