Comedian Bovi on Tuesday night weighed in on the feud between his colleagues Basketmouth and AY Makun.
Basketmouth recently told media personality Nedu Wazobia in an interview that he and AY were never friends and thus had no photographs together, following AY’s disclosure that his 17-year feud with Basketmouth began over a sum of N30,000 not paid to him.
He said, “AY is not my friend. We have never been friends. I have never visited his house. I have never personally invited him to my house.
“I never ever call am one day say ‘o boy, where you dey? Make we hang out’. Nothing like that don ever happen.
“And it’s easy to tell, if you look around social media, you will never find a picture of him and me. So, we were never friends.”
However, social media users dug up an old photo of the comedians posing with smiles.
Bovi re-posted the photo on Instagram Stories, revealing it was taken in 2004.
“This is Basketmouth and a fan! 😎 2004! Ay no vex o! Before you go call Chude for me!” he wrote.
Bovi recently told media personality Chude Jideonwo that his relationship with Basketmouth is not as solid as it used to be because he had to build his own brand.
He said, “I decided, you know what, it’s time to grow your brand and focus on you now. So, I’ll take responsibility for my own decision. We are human beings, there will always be skirmishes, I mean, it’s also part of pop culture. We were young and restless and stuff like that. I just realised that as I said earlier, the biggest service you can do for yourself is to push yourself.”
