Brazil stands still for Miss BumBum

Athletes, officials as well as media personal seem to be having an unforgettable time at the ongoing Rio Olympics games which is barely a week old.

The country’s magnificent landscape, rich cultural heritage and beautiful beaches as well as lakes have caught the attention of visiting delegates.

But none can compare to the spectacle of Tuesday, when 27 beautiful ladies where spotted in bikinis competing to win the title of best bottoms – popularly known as the Miss BumBum.

While African ladies argue that they are the most endowed in the world, their Brazilian counterparts meanwhile, are already making big bucks from their own derriere.

The annual contest, which is the most popular in Brazil, brought traffic to a standstill as contestants ran down the famous Avenida Paulista, the main street of the country’s biggest city Sao Paulo on Tuesday.

Coincidentally, this is the same city where Nigeria’s Dream Team VI will play their last group game against Colombia in the football event on Wednesday night.

In Brazil, a country obsessed with the female backside, winners of the hotly-disputed contest become overnight celebrities and often go on to receive $22,000 in endorsements.

However, the visitors may have had their last view of this beautiful ladies.

This is because the contestants may not take to the street again as it is only scheduled to take place only once in the competition.

They will now spend the next three months doing whatever they can to win enough telephone votes from the public to win them a place in the grand finale on November 9.
