The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a nationwide strike following a two-day meeting of its national executive council.
ASUU president Prof Emmanuel Osodeke announced a “comprehensive and total strike” at a press conference on Monday.
The warning strike will last for one month with effect from February 14.
The union had expressed grievances over the failure of the Federal Government to fulfil some of the agreements it made as far back as 2009.
Some of them include funding for revitalisation of public universities, earned academic allowances, university transparency accountability solution, renegotiation of 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, and the integrated payroll and personnel information system payment.
