The weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting will not hold on Wednesday due to inadequate time to prepare the documents for the meeting, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has announced.
In a statement issued in Kano on Tuesday, the minister said the two-day public holidays declared for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations left little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.
President Muhammadu Buhari spent the holidays in his hometown, Daura in Katsina State.
He attended his first FEC meeting for five months last week after a long stay in London where he received treatment for an undisclosed condition.
Until last week, Buhari, who returned to Nigeria on August 19, had not chaired a cabinet meeting since April 5 before then.
The meeting of August 23, which was due to be the first since the President’s return from London, was cancelled without explanation leading to media speculation that the president had not fully recovered.
Buhari left Nigeria on May 7 for his second round of treatment in Britain so far this year for an unspecified medical condition, having already spent two months in London, returning in March.
Buhari missed three cabinet meetings at the time and transferred power to Osinbajo to allay fears of a leadership vacuum.
