President Muhammadu Buhari has declared the intention to run for a second term in office.
The President said this on Monday at a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.
National publicity secretary of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, and Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, confirmed this while addressing journalists in Abuja after the NEC meeting.
The Presidency and Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna also announced the decision on their verified Twitter handles.

Buhari, who ruled Nigeria as military head of state in the 80s, will be 76 when the presidential election is conducted in February 2019.
