President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended Ibrahim Magu from his position as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the BBC has reported.
The news platform said a source in the presidency confirmed the suspension on Tuesday.
Buhari had earlier set up a presidential panel headed by a former president of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, to probe the various allegations levelled against the EFCC boss.
Magu appeared before the panel on Monday.
He is currently before the panel, after passing the night in a police cell, to answer questions bordering on misconduct, fraternising with looters, insubordination among others.
