Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa contestant, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, triumphing over 24 other contestants.
The pageant’s grand finale was held on Saturday at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
Initially set to compete as Miss South Africa, Chidimma withdrew from the competition amidst xenophobic attacks and questions surrounding her nationality.
Following her withdrawal, the Miss Universe Nigeria organisers extended an invitation, which she accepted, entering the competition at the last minute as Miss Taraba, contestant number 25.
The competition’s top five contestants included Miss Anambra Paula Ezendu, Miss Edo Edeifo Brittany, Miss Ondo Ayegbidun Peace Olamide, Miss Rivers Nyekachi Douglas and Chidimma Adetshina as Miss Taraba.
The top three winners were Miss Ondo, who earned the title of Miss Lush, Miss Anambra, who was named the first runner-up and crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria, and Chidimma Adetshina, who was declared the winner.
“This crown is not just about beauty; it’s a call for unity,” Chidimma said in her acceptance speech.
Chidimma Adetshina will now go on to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant.
