The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted N100 million bail to the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, on Friday, also ruled that Mr Sowore is to produce two sureties in like sum and deposit the sum of N50 million in the account of the court as security.

The sureties, she said, must be resident in Abuja, and also have landed property in Abuja worth the bail sum, and they are to deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.

She also granted co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety.

Justice Ojukwu barred them from addressing any rally pending the conclusion of their trial on charges of treasonable felony among others.

She also barred Sowore from travelling out of Abuja and Bakare out of Osogbo during the trial.

Ojukwu ordered that the defendants be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) pending when they meet the bail conditions.

Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana, told journalists after the hearing that the bail conditions were ‘stringent’.

The defendants had on Monday pleaded not guilty to seven counts of treasonable felony and other sundry offences instituted against them by the Federal Government.

Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, has been in DSS custody since August 3 for allegedly calling for “revolution” through protest that was scheduled for August 5.
