The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano.
Mr Obiano was taken into custody on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The 66-year-old had only handed over to his successor Prof Charles Soludo hours before his arrest.
Obiano has been on the radar of the EFCC for some time on allegations of money laundering.
The ex-governor was on his way to board a flight to Houston, Texas, US before he was picked up by the anti-graft agency.
It was gathered that Obiano was arrested for allegedly mismanaging over N17bn Paris Club refund and security vote.
He is also being probed over some suspicious projects, including the Umueri International Airport project whose cost was believed to be inflated.
