The Metropolitan Police in London has arrested a former Nigerian Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice.
They are in police custody for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child.
Ekweremadu, 60, and Beatrice, 55, have been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 23.
According to the force, the investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
The child has been taken into protective custody, reports Sky News.
