Nigeria’s former president Shehu Shagari is dead.
Shagari passed away at the National Hospital Abuja on Friday at the age of 93.
The ex-president’s grandson who is also the president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Bello Shagari, made the announcement on Friday evening on Twitter.
Shagari’s death was also confirmed by the governor of his state Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
“I regret to announce the death of former President Shehu Shagari who just passed away at National Hospital Abuja,” Mr Tambuwal wrote on Twitter on Friday.
