A former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Obafemi Hamzat, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Lagos State.
Speaking during a press conference in Lagos on Saturday, Hamzat said he took the decision to support the ambition of Managing Director of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He also directed his supporters to cast their votes for Sanwo-Olu during the party’s primary holding on Sunday.
Incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is also in the race for a second term ticket.
Sanwo-Olu is believed to enjoy the backing of former Lagos governor and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.
He was on Friday endorsed by Tinubu’s daughter and Iyaloja-General of Lagos, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, and other market leaders in the state.
