A Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State has sentenced Yinusa Dahiru, who abducted a teenager, Ese Oruru, to 26 years imprisonment.
Justice Jane Inyang handed out the judgement on Thursday.
Ese was abducted in Bayelsa State in August 2015 and taken to Kano State where she was converted to Islam and married out without the consent of her parents.
The judge, however, acquitted Mr Dahiru on count one but jailed him five years on count two, seven years on count three, seven years on count four and seven years on count five.
Justice Inyang said the sentences will run concurrently.
Dahiru faced a five-count charge of criminal abduction, illicit sex, sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.
Ms Oruru was 14 at the time she was rescued in 2016. She was later delivered of a baby girl in May of same year.
