Chanel creative director and fashion Icon, Karl Lagerfeld, has died in Paris at the age of 85.
News of his death was announced by French luxury clothiers, Chanel, on Tuesday.
Lagerfeld was the Creative Director of Chanel, the fashion house founded by Gabrielle Chanel, for an era-defining 36 years starting from 1983.
He was known affectionately as the ‘Kaiser’ because of his German ancestry.
Karl was born on September 10, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany.
As one of the most prolific and admired designers of modern times, his influence on the fashion industry is unparalleled.
Karl has also held long-term design positions at the Italian house Fendi, the French house Chloé, and established his eponymous brand.
