The Nigerian Ambassador to Qatar, Abdullahi Wase, is dead.
A statement on Saturday by the spokesman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tope Elias-Fatile, said Wase, a non-career ambassador from Plateau State, died on Friday night after being ill for a while.
He will be buried in Doha, the capital of Qatar at 7.00pm (local time) on Saturday.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, received the news of his death with shock and prayed that God grant his family and the nation the fortitude to bear the great loss,” the statement added.
Wase and 47 others were nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 19, 2016 as non-career ambassadors.
The deceased reported to his station in Qatar, on October 27, 2017 to commence his duties as Nigeria’s second resident ambassador to the country after the exit of Ambassador Ahmed Shuaibu.
