A petrol tanker has exploded at Forte Oil filling station near the local airport in Lagos State.
The explosion which occurred at 2:10 pm when the tanker was discharging fuel resulted in a massive blaze at the facility.
Officials of the fire service rushed to the scene to contain the inferno before it could spread to the environs including the airport.
Spokesperson for Lagos Airport Police Command DSP Joseph Alabi has confirmed that there was no casualty.
“A tanker driver came to discharge fuel for them and during the process, fire broke out but it has been put off now.
“It was a disaster because everywhere was burnt down but there was no casualty.
“They called firefighters from Lagos State Fire Service and also firefighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) responded.
“It was through their efforts that the fire was put off without causing further damages to other nearby structures, ” Mr Alabi said.
