President Muhammadu Buhari will return to the country later today (Saturday), after receiving medical attention in London.
This was disclosed in a statement by the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina.
Buhari had left the country on May 7, this year, after handing over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has functioned as Acting President since then.
President Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 a.m on Monday.
“He thanks all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge,” the statement concluded.
Buhari’s return is coming hours after Osinbajo attended Friday’s inauguration of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda in Kigali, the country’s capital.
Prof. Osinbajo, who was accompanied by the Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama, has since returned to Abuja.
