An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court has released popular singer Small Doctor with a warning not to engage in any violent act for the next one year.
The PUNCH quoted a police source as saying the suspect has a licence for the gun over which he was arrested and arraigned by the police.
“And since he did not commit any crime with it or kill anyone, what is the issue?” the source said.
Small Doctor was arrested and paraded by the police on Monday along with three other suspects arrested with him in the Oshodi area of Lagos.
Parading the men on Monday, Lagos police boss Imohimi Edgal said he was disappointed in musician because he had a case with the State CID for allegedly shooting a gun at a show in Agege where four persons were injured.
“I am concerned as one will expect that a popular musician like him would be a role model but his character of gangsterism is nothing to emulate,” Edgal said.
Small Doctor was among a group of popular Nigerian entertainers appointed police ambassador earlier this year.
The ‘Penalty’ singer and others like Omoni Oboli, Odunlade Adekola, Sound Sultan, Dr Sid, Korede Bello and Ruggedman were seen in police uniforms posing with celebrity police officer Dolapo Badmos.
He also performed at a show tagged ‘Entertainment Meets Security at the University of Lagos in March.
