The Super Eagles defeated Sudan 3-1 on Saturday to qualify for the next round of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
A goal each from Samuel Chukwueze and Taiwo Awoniyi gave the Super Eagles a 2-0 lead in the first half of their Group D encounter.
Chukwueze scored in the third minute and the Eagles controlled much of the game until Awoniyi doubled the lead in additional time of the first half at Stade Roumdé Adjia in Garoua.
Moses Simon made it 3-0 at the restart of the game, slotting home a cool finish with his left foot.
Referee Victor Gomes pointed to the penalty spot after VAR review showed Ola Aina fouled in the box.
Walieldin Khidir converted the penalty in the 70th minute to give the north African country a glimpse of hope in the contest.
The Super Eagles were favourites going into their second game of the competition.
Coach Austin Eguavoen started the game with the same side that defeated Egypt in the group’s opening game.
