President Muhammadu Buhari is absent at the Federal Executive Council meeting currently holding inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It is the second time in three weeks that the President will be missing at the meeting, leaving Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to preside over affairs.
The 74-year-old was absent at the same meeting penultimate Wednesday, but the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said he was attending to other important state matters.
Nigerians were told the meeting could not hold last week because of the Easter holidays.
This week’s meeting started a few minutes after 11am when Osinbajo asked the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, to say both Muslim and Christian prayers respectively.
Some other ministers are also absent at the meeting.
No reason was immediately given for the absence.
