President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the security chiefs at the State House in Abuja.
According to a presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, top on the agenda is the insecurity in Zamfara.
“President @MBuhari receives security briefing from Defence Minister, service chiefs and other heads of the security agencies at the State House, Abuja. Zamfara issues at the top of the agenda. #SecuringNigeria,” Mr Ahmad wrote on Twitter.
Several people were reported dead on Monday after bandits launched fresh attack in Zamfara.
The security chiefs were led to the meeting by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali.
Those present include Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
Others are the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas.
The acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and heads of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Department of State Services, were also part of the meeting.
National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, are some of the cabinet members who joined the meeting.
The meeting comes four days to the governorship and state assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.
