President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the Director-General (DG) of the campaign organisation for his re-election bid.
Amaechi occupied the same office during the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Committee under the All Progressive Congress (APC) between 2014 and 2015.
This was disclosed by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday.
A post on the Twitter handle of the President’s spokesman read: “President @MBuhari has approved the appointment of a campaign organization for his re-election in 2019 with Hon. @ChibuikeAmaechi as Secretary/Director General.
“Hon. Amaechi was the Director General of the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Committee in 2014-2015 that won the elections and brought the current administration into office.
“The new Director-General will announce other appointments into the campaign structure as approved by President Buhari.”
