President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday ordered the immediate reopening of four land borders Seme, Illela, Maigatari, and Mfun.
The borders have been shut since August 2019 to curtail illegal importation of drugs, small arms and agricultural products into country from neighbouring West African nations.
Presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad also tweeted: “As approved by the President, four of the country’s land borders; Seme in Lagos, Illela in Sokoto, Maigatari in Jigawa and Mfun in Cross River are now opened. Others will be reopened before Dec. 31st, 2020, Finance, Budget and National Planning Minister, Zainab Ahmed discloses.”
