President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
Muhammad was cleared last week by the Senate.
He was sworn-in in a ceremony on Wednesday attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.
Muhammad had been on acting capacity since January 2019. He becomes the 18th CJN.
Also at the ceremony that started around 10:30 am included Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
Others included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari; and Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita.
