President Muhammadu Buhari and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, have joined the Christian community in celebrating the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, at 78.
The president, in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, on Monday, saluted Adeboye’s dedication to God, welfare of the church and consistency in preaching and living the gospel for many years.
He also commended the positive influence the preacher has had on the country and its citizens, with a wide network that hugely impacts on education, infrastructure and health.
He particularly cited Adeboye’s forthrightness in telling the truth to leaders, regular mobilisation of members of his church to civic responsibilities and relentless courage in taking the gospel to every part of Nigeria, and almost every country in the world.
President Buhari prayed that God would grant Adeboye longer life, good health and more wisdom to continue sharing the love of Christ.
Tinubu, on his part, in a congratulatory letter to Adeboye which he personally signed described Adeboye as a strong and committed leader of nations who has built a flock that now numbers many millions through his formidable and devoted ministry.
“I sincerely extend my best wishes and congratulations to Pastor E. A. Adeboye on the occasion of his 78th birthday celebrations,” he said.
“Truly, Pastor Adeboye is a strong and committed leader of nations. Through his formidable and devoted ministry, he has built a flock that now numbers many millions.
“With the support of his loyal and dedicated wife, Pastor Adeboye has built a church that is renowned across the world. He has led a life of grace and service. He is a beacon of hope for those in search of salvation and a guiding light for those who, like him, are called to serve.
“His dedication to his faith and the salvation of his followers deserves recognition and commendation, even from among those who do not profess identical beliefs.”
Tinubu also prayed for more years in good health for the cleric.
