The Senate on Wednesday screened and confirmed some members of the governing board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Those confirmed include General Paul Tarfa (retd) (North East, Adamawa), the classmate of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as chairman of the commission.
President Bola Tinubu had in a letter read on the floor of the plenary by the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, sought the confirmation of their appointments.

The other nominees for confirmation include Gambo Maikyau as member (North East, Taraba); Abdullahi Abbas member (North West, Kano); Zaf Ondora, member (North Central, Benue); Mutiu Areh, member (South West, Lagos).
Others are Samuel Onuigbo, member (South East, Abia); Frank Owo, member (South South, Rivers); Mohamed Alkali (managing director, North East, Borno).
The rest for re-appointment are Musa Yashi, executive director of humanitarian affairs (North East, Bauchi); Ahmed Yahaya as executive director of operations, (North East, Gombe); and Abubakar Ileah, executive director of administration and finance, (North East, Yobe).
