Fatima Buhari, daughter of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been appointed ambassador of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).

The appointment followed her recent inauguration as Katsina State chapter coordinator of the Professional Women Accountants in Nigeria (PROWAN), alongside other executives of the north-west zone of PROWAN.

Speaking at a dinner organised for the officials, national president of ANAN James Neminebor confirmed Buhari’s appointment and urged the executives to prioritise service and commitment to the association in their respective states.

He also appreciated the Katsina State Government for its support for ANAN, emphasising the importance of embracing professional accounting services for effective financial management across sectors.

In her remarks, Buhari, the inaugural ambassador, expressed pride in establishing the PROWAN chapter, calling it a groundbreaking achievement for women in Northern Nigeria’s accounting profession.

“This milestone is not just a celebration of achievements, but a testament to the resilience, dedication, and professionalism of women accountants across this region and the nation at large,” she said.

She added that the new chapter is dedicated to elevating women’s voices in a traditionally male-dominated field and creating opportunities for future female accountants in the North-West zone.

The state governor, Umaru Radda, who was represented at the event by his deputy, Faruq Jobe, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting ANAN, emphasising its partnership in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in the state.
