Bashir Ahmad, a former personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, on Friday lost his bid to represent Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives.
Ahmad lost the primary of the All Progressives Congress to the incumbent representative Mahmud Gaya. He polled 16 votes while Gaya got 109 votes.
The result will see Gaya contest in the general election for a second term in the House.
Ahmad said on Facebook after the primary that he left the venue of the election abruptly for security reasons.
“As an aspirant, I left the venue of primary election for Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Federal Constituency, because of the security of our majority delegates. If want to compete with the best, thugs shouldn’t be part of any election,” he wrote.
