Buhari’s minister, Mama Taraba, endorses Atiku for 2019

A video showing Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, fondly called Mama Taraba, endorsing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2019 presidential election has gone viral on social media.

The minister made the endorsement when she led a private visit to Atiku, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Your excellency, our father and our president by the grace of God, come 2019,” she said in Hausa language.

Alhassan was the APC governorship candidate in Taraba in 2015, an election she narrowly lost to the current Governor Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku, who has not publicly declared his intention to run in 2019, is believed to be a major financier of the APC in Taraba.

Alhassan was appointed minister by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
