Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, is reportedly in a romantic relationship with Zahra Bayero daughter of the Emir of Bichi in Kano.
Unconfirmed reports say the formal introduction between both families will soon hold.
The return of first lady Aisha Buhari to Nigeria after six months in Dubai has bolstered speculations the marriage could happen soon.
However, a source close to the emir confirmed to BBC Pidgin that Yusuf and Zahra are lovebirds.
According to the source, the duo met during the time Yusuf studied at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, same school Zahra did her Architecture degree programme.
“Yes it’s true that Yusuf Buhari and Zahra Bayero daughter of Emir of Bichi are in a relationship and they met while schooling in the United Kingdom,” the source was quoted saying.
“Contrary to some reports, although both families are aware of the relationship no formal meeting about the marriage has happened yet, though many from both sides hope something will happen soon.”
Apart from being daughter of Emir Bayero who is also the chairman of 9mobile, Zahra is also the granddaughter of late Kano emir Ado Bayero.
Yusuf, meanwhile, survived a serious motorbike accident in 2017.
