Actress and singer Bukunmi Oluwasina has stirred a wave of prayers and reflections with her latest single, ‘Ori.’
Announcing the release on Instagram on Friday, Bukunmi shared a snippet of the song alongside a heartfelt note about its profound meaning.
She delved into the cultural and spiritual significance of the “head” (Ori), writing, “During deliverance, they lay a hand on your head or anoint it. When diabolic people attack, in our mother’s tongue, they would say, ‘Won pe Ori e.’
“In other religions, when you come to pray, they tell you to cover your head. No good or bad can come to a person without the consent of their head.”
Bukunmi declared 2025 a year of victory for her fans, proclaiming blessings in her note:
“Nothing is permitted to die around you. When you step out, you shall return. In the land of winners, you shall win. It shall truly be well with you. 2025, Ori wa o ni ko adura.”
The single has since inspired emotional responses from fans.
One commented, “Ìwọ orí mi, má ṣe ko àdúrà, má ṣe ko ire ní ọdún yìí. Àmín.”
Film producer Kazim Adeoti, husband of actress Mercy Aigbe, also joined in, writing, “Ori mi gbe’re wa fun mi o.”
Actors Yinka Quadri and Faithia Balogun shared the post on their pages, showing their support for the actress.
This release follows a poignant moment in Bukunmi’s life.
In August 2024, she addressed false rumour about her death, sharing a striking black-and-white photo of herself with a shaved head.
In the accompanying caption, the 34-year-old wrote, “Everyone wishing you or me death shall be buried before the end of 2024.”
