Grammy Award winners Burna Boy and Angelique Kidjo have released the music video for their hit song ‘Do Yourself’.
Kidjo made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday.
Speaking on the music video, the Beninese-American music icon stated that the song is a new anthem for Africa laced with modernity, beauty, and energy.
She wrote: “Burna Boy and I are so excited to share the new music video for #DoYourself! We have written the anthem for a new Africa – laced with modernity, beauty, and energy. We revere Africa because she is the birthplace of all humanity.
“We won’t let her fall apart, we know she is strong like metal and steel. A long time ago we learned that if you want Africa to change, you have to do it yourself.”
Burna Boy was nominated alongside Kidjo at the 2020 Grammy Awards for Best World Music Album which he lost to Kidjo.
However, Kidjo dedicated her win to him, saying: “Burna Boy is among those young artistes that come from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and the way that African music is the bedrock of all music.”
Burna Boy won in the same category the following year.
