Singer, Mr 2Kay, says Burna Boy has apologised to him over the robbery and assault he suffered at the Eko Hotel and Suites during the Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless in October.
The police had declared Burna Boy wanted over his refusal to honour an invitation to answer questions on the attack.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, named the musician as a person of interest following the arrest of his road manager, Joel, and three other persons who allegedly confessed to taking part in the robbery.
They were said to have been offered N100, 000 to carry out the act.
Speaking in an interview with Pulse on Thursday, Mr 2kay said Burna Boy called him to apologise over the attack while claiming he had nothing to do with it.
“Yes, they have tried to get across to us, speaking to people from our families back in Rivers states, people who know us, even people who haven’t spoken to us in years,” the ‘Count it all Joy’ singer said.
“Burna Boy called me with a UK number. I picked the call and he said it was Burna and he said to me, apologising and denying that he was not the one, apologising. So it’s a bit funny, I don’t feel okay with that.”
Burna Boy had allegedly threatened Mr 2kay before the attack occurred.
“If I got a threat from you and then something happens to me like this because on your threat you said I should have the same energy that I have when I meet you or your people and in not too long after two weeks this happens and your manager was part of it, your manager was in my room.
“I never thought about it that way, I was so angry with the hotel people about how they can be so loose. He has spoken to me saying he didn’t know it would go this far, saying it was the manager who took it upon himself,” Mr 2kay added.
Burna Boy’s management insists he is out of the country and would honour the police invitation when he gets back to Nigeria.
