Grammy Award winner Burna Boy has won the Best Solo Act in the World category at the 2022 NME Awards.
In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, the 30-year-old thanked the organisers for the award for the win.
Burna Boy, who noted that it was his first win, also apologised for his absence at the event while celebrating the win.
He said: “Thank you guys very much for thus award. It’s my first NME, unfortunately, I couldn’t be there to celebrate with you guys and I know how lit the NMEs are. You guys are probably over there drinking and turning up like crazy, Please turn up for me and have more drinks on my behalf.
“Thank you NME and I appreciate everyone involved in this. God bless.”
Burna Boy was nominated alongside international stars like The Weekend, Dave, Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, Pyra, Tkay Maidza, Little Simz and Arlo Parks.
